About Korea Labor & Society Institute

The history of KLSI dates back to 1986 when the Korean Labour Education Association(KLEA) was established by Kim Keumsoo(the current president of KLSI), Chun Youngse (the current general secretary of the Democratic Labor Party) and other comrades who had been involved in the labour movement in Korea since 1970s. KLEA had prioritised its effort on educating workers so as to make a pool of union leadership/activists for the Korean labour movement. This ultimately led to the Great Workers' Struggle in 1987.
